The E5 alloy used in the SLX 24 is notable for its exceptional elongation characteristics. This translates to aluminium that can be more precisely and extensively extruded to its final shape while retaining impressive strength at minimal weight. It makes for a rim that can handle severe abuse in real-world conditions without leaving you stranded.
Wider tires roll faster, and are more comfortable, than narrow tires. The tubeless ready, 20mm internal width of the SLX 24 is optimised for use with modern, wider tires, providing them with the right amount of sidewall support to facilitate surefooted handling in all conditions.
With two main goals in mind—long life and easy serviceability—we looked to Switzerland. The SLX 24 uses an ultra-reliable, rapid engagement DT 350 star-ratchet freehub for smooth power transmission and long-term dependability. Similarly, DT Swiss Competition spokes were chosen to lace hub to rim, and finished with brass Pro-Lock nipples.
Total wheelset weight is 1515 grams, which is a mighty respectable weight for a wheelset that excels everywhere from training rides to ‘cross races. The tubeless ready design ensures hassle-free setup and trouble-free riding.
